Qatar slashes fuel surcharges 8:49 AM :: 0 Comments :: :: Airline News, UAE/Gulf

DOHA: Qatar Airways has reduced fuel surcharges on flights in its international network. The decrease in the fuel surcharge on short- and long-haul services in the airline’s global network follows an earlier reduction implemented by the airline in December on tickets for one-way and return flights from Doha,
The airline says the move reflects "the return to stability in oil prices over the past few months" following an unprecedented surge during 2008. Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said Qatar Airways’ fuel surcharges had been significantly lower than those of other airlines. "We have absorbed a large percentage of the increase in fuel prices in the past, passing very little onto the consumer.“In response to the recent reduction in oil and jet fuel prices, we are now pleased to lower the fuel surcharge substantially in our network, which demonstrates our commitment to the travelling public by offering highly competitive prices.”
